skydiving and thanksgiving

Hey ya'll! So I'm pretty sure that I haven't written on this thing in like a year, but right now I really don't feel like writing the papers I'm supposed to be writing.  Yea you heard right paperS but anyways... I haven't really been busy, just preoccupied. Haha... So this weekend me and Darren are coming home and he is gonna go fling himself out of an airplane at like 1300 feet or something like that.  I'm pretty sure that I'm a little nervous for him, but I'm gonna be there for him when he gets back on solid ground, and I'll be praying the entire time he's decending towards planet earth.
Other than that nothing else is really happening until Thanksgiving time when I get to go home again and have an AMAZING Turkey day dinner.... you have no idea how much I'm looking forward to it.... Thanksgiving is my second favorite holiday next to Christmas.  I get to spend time with my family and just hang out and watch some football and, of course, the traditional Thanksgiving day dinner.  Turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce, green bean cassarole, scalloped potatoes, and the jello! haha and of course you have to have the apple pie afterwards (i know yall think its supposed to be pumpkin pie, but thats yucky).   Alright I'm getting hungry now, unfortunately I'm at work :(

I'm gonna get back to work now!

ADIOS FOR NOW!

What went wrong this Election........

October 22nd; yes, the day that enable me to take part in this historic election. But sometimes I wish that I didn’t take part in all of the nonsense. Being a solid right-winged guy, the atmosphere and experience of the election was not what I expected or wanted. Especially since Nevada is a swing state, I expected fighters from both corners to hit the streets daily to recruit warriors for their cause. And there were fighters, but apparently Mccain’s fighters got lost on their way here. That or they must have died because I did not see a trace of Mccain anywhere. Although everywhere I looked I saw that stupid symbol of Obama’s. I mean it was Everywhere; cars, on the street, and I think they even turned the sun to look liked it too. I guess that’s what Mccain was missing from his campaign; if only he would have had a cool symbol like Obama. Well, I guess they’ll learn from their mistake and oh, to win you’ve got to get the vote of the uneducated; aka the college vote.

As I walked around the campus here at UNR, everything I saw either said “Change” or had his symbol on it. Being that this is a swing state, I expected this but I hoped for the same for the republican side. I wanted the debates between the students to sway the students who watched and listened. But I guess that’s out of the question. Instead Obama did exactly what he needed to do, which was come here and recruit every college student within range of his voice. It was obvious of his presence even when he was not here. Several students took part in voter registration here on campus to encourage people to vote. Great, right? Well, the only problem I had is with their attire. Apparently every person must clearly where an Obama sticker or pin on them. This only leads me to believe that there is some connection between the two. Is it possible that there is a reason why Obama would want every college kid to vote? Of course there is! In the 2004 elections, the majority of young aged people (18-29) voted democratic. In the 2006 elections, even a larger percentage voted democrat. Some are they really out there to just make sure everyone votes? No, they’re not worried about true democracy, only the part where they get the people they want to vote. If they really just wanted to everyone to vote, they’d be much more useful by the casinos or other major areas instead of a small college campus.

While the Obama campaign is doing these things, he has every right to do so. That’s politics. Which means I have to get off his back and start breathing down Mccain’s neck. Why is your opponent, your moral enemy allowed to claim his territory all over this town and state? If you’re so big on national defense but you can’t even protect Nevada from the ideal of Mr. Obama. That just seems hypocritical to me Mr. Mccain. Maybe it’s just my bias but there’s is really no “Mccain Love” here in Nevada. Every time Obama is anywhere close to Nevada, everyone is alerted and notified. I believe Sarah Palin came to Nevada but no alarm or alerts went off. Nobody got the out their “Country First” t-shirts as do the democrats with their “Hope” and “Change.” I want, no, expect the same if not greater response for Mccain’s campaign as Obama gets. So why didn’t this happen? Why does it seem like I am the outsider in this liberal world? Well, we can start with Mr. Mccain but it can really go all the way down to the grassroot campaigns here in Reno.

Blame can be placed on the local republican and the republican club on campus. It should have been their jobs to educate voters and challenge their views. I bet if a person was asked why they decided to vote one way, they wouldn’t have a legitimate reason. I know that if I was asked to defend my position, I could do a hell of a job. They needed to make sure they know what the presidential candidate they are supporting is for and against. As long as they are informed voter, I really don’t care which way they vote; it’s a democracy. It’s just the people who are doing it because “their friends voted for him” who are really messing up the system. If Mr. Obama wins the election, I would want him to win with every voter being informed. That way it’s really a “people say” system and the majority of people would elect who they deemed fit.

In the end, I don’t mean to bash on Mr. Obama for what he and his campaign have done. I’m more concerned with the fact the Mccain pretty much lost some electoral votes that should have been his. In September, he was leading Obama but after Obama two visits to Reno, the votes switched. How can you just sit by and let this happen? Not only in Nevada but in several East Coast States that have been Red for as long as anyone can remember have suddenly found a new favorite color? Of course, the main reason is that Obama has had a substantial lead in finance for his campaign. This has given him enough to take on these right-winged states and plant his seed into the people. While I’m no general, but I’m pretty sure that you don’t let the enemy onto your territory without a fight. So to Mr. Mccain and all future republican candidates, I hope we’ve all learned from Mr. Mccain’s mistakes. If you want to have any hope of actually winning, then don’t let your opponent control what should be yours. Let’s make sure that we reassure the people that our campaign wants our vote and is going to use that to win. Make sure that your grassroot centers are doing their job of recruiting the most warriors that have the same ideals as us. Let’s just sweep this one under the rug and start fresh.

A little taste of C++

So today I saw one of my roommates working on their computer science lab and it looked very interesting. So tonight I had some free time so I decided to read one of their textbooks. I almost got through the first chapter tonight and learned how to write strings and how to use the input-output method. It's pretty interesting stuff and I hope to read and learn some more!

Been Busy

So this week I had a total of four tests; two on Monday, one on wed (on my bday!!!!!!) and one later today. I get to see what I got on my calculus test today which I studied forever for......unfortunately hurt me on my other test that day =( oh well.....there's some extra credit for me to do so I'm all good. Anyways.....I plan to do nothing this weekend except visit with family who in town so don't bother me......I need to recuperate from this week.......I really haven't seen the outside of my dorm room unless I was going to take the test. Oh and last weekend my family came up to celebrate my 18th birthday which was nice. Got some cool stuff and we even went to Gamestop to get some new games. Now I'm addicted to Fable and have been playing that every night to wind down after studying for all these stupid tests.........Also I got the newest game to the Tales Series.......It's pretty cool and I'm sure I'll put in plenty of hours this weekend!

1 am

So its one in the morning and I thought that I'd share whats on my mind with you. First, I realized that the new Animal Crossing game for the Wii comes out in like a month. I can't wait because for some reason I've been a huge fan of that game and its super addicting........Next is that registration for next semester's classes is now.... So I worked out my schedule and it looks like i'll be taking pretty much the same classes except for Bio and maybe a new psychology class. The schedule is: Math 182, Chem 201, Biol 190, Eng 102, and Psy ???....................Lastly is that my Bday is less than a week away now......   =)  that should be nice......and I think thats pretty much it..............oh and my roommates have found a great interest in my new xbox game and have logged im sure more than 24 hours on it already.......................yea.............and I need my other writer to blog a little more.....hehe thats u AMY!!!!

When the grass isn't green.....

So this last weekend, I was part of the refereeing crew for the Fall Sagebrush Tournament. No different than any other tournament I'd done before............except that when I walked out onto the field, it was completely white. The previous night it had showed which made the whole weekend way too cold.........My cleats and socks were completely soaked by my second game which made it very hard to concentrate........But thankfully by mid-day, all the snow had melted, so it was only cold, not wet. Sunday I was chosen to referee a championship game of U-12 Boys and it was a great game. Unfortunately, I had the wrong interpretation of the rules and disallowed a goal when it should have been counted..........I even asked my AR to make sure that the PK did not count and the AR agreed. It turned out after discussion with all the other refs, we were all under the same impression that I was. It was not until a more experienced ref came that he was able to clarify the rule and make that correction. The team that was affected by my decision could do nothing as the game was over.......and for that I apologize..........But everyone makes mistakes and now I know that I'll never make that call again.

Well i guess this didnt go the way I expected it too...... (Part 3)

Ha......so the game I refereed on Tuesday was not want I was expecting at all.........I was actually pumped to ref this game cuz it was suppose to be a great game.....which it was.....but apparently I wasn't ready for it at all. These two U-14 G teams were the most competitive, rough teams that I had every reffed.......Not until after did I get the complete story about the rivalry between the two....... I let the game get out of hand because I "let them play" but when I talked to them, they said it was fine. But I needed to have better mechanics and get control of the game......There was a lot of shoving and reckless play but most of it didn't affect the play substancialy.........A couple of play could have gone either way but since I was letting things go, I decided to not call them........Thankfully the game came to an end because it began to escalate very quickly at the end..........It was a good humbling event so that I could realize that I need my A+ game everytime I step onto the field....the players deserve it..........Hopefully I'll be able to take this into the tournament this weekend!

Anticipating tomorrow.........

So the Referee coordinator specifically ask for me to ref a center on a very competitive game tomorrow...... So I know that I'm being recognized as somewhat a good ref..... For me this is great news because as I have heard, in the spring there are U-16 and U-18 games which I need to be prepared for. I'm excited for the opportunities that I'm getting and the experience I've obtain..........we'll see how tomorrow goes.......

Well i guess this didnt go the way I expected it too...... (Part 2)

So today I realized for the first time that I experienced a class that I might have to ACTUALLY Study for.......Usually I'm able to pick up all the info that I need from HW and from class......but now I know that this is the only mistake I get......I can't afford another one......not gonna chance it.......not if med school is on the line.....Never......So I just gotta get this off me and get on with the 100% on the next one!!!!!!

Well i guess this didnt go the way I expected it too......

So I'm guessing that since my last entry was sometime in July that I didnt stick to my goal. Well, no harm, no foul.......So let me update you on my life....... Well I'm now in Reno living in the dorm and going to school. I pretty much clicked with all my suitemates........they're all awesome guys and tight to hang with......My roommate Brendon is cool......he's a computer enginnering major so he knows all the technogolical stuff that I don't.......pretty useful right? As for my suitemates, there Erick and Daniel, Scott and Andrew, Kalena and Wes. I hang with Erick and Scott most of the time.......we already got plans to get a house next year and Erick is going to bring his car up next semester.

In my life, classes are pretty easy........nutrition, psychology, and english are really easy.......while calculus is my hardest class.......we had an exam last Friday and I'm thinkin a B on it =( but on my Chem exam I got a 97 so I still got it in the sciences! On the weekends, I have been refereeing and its been very lucrative for me.....I usually pick up a game on fri and 5 on sat.....So I'm pretty much dead on Sun.......and thats pretty much it....................I'm done

A way to save some Gas...........

So I'll been wondering how cool it would be to ride a motorcycle but I thought I would never get to. Whenever I was shown prices of bikes they were of harley davisons and were very expensive. Only after I decided that I actually wanted to get one, I looked at the new 2008 Kawasaki Ninja 250R. The MSRP for these brand new bike are only $3,500! I couldn't believe it........ thats actually very reasonable! So I decided that if I could save $1,000 this year at school, that would be a large enough amount as a down payment to get a good deal. So in the summer of '09 I hope to take my motorcycle permit test so I can begin to learn how to ride one. Fortunately for me, my gf also has a side of her with this amount of crazy so she will be my partner in crime! Wish me luck!!!!!!

I can't decide what color I like........ I'm thinking the blue...........

Hawaii- Day 1 and 2

Day 1
Just an update to anyone that does not know, I'm currently in Hawaii in Waikoloa village. I had to get up at 5:30 in the morning to fly out of Sac and we arrived in Honolulu around 12. We got to the big island of Hawaii around 5 and checked into our condo. (I know, we travel well) We were suppose to attend a convention dinner that night, but it was moved. BTW, the reason we're here is because my grandpa goes to an eye convention here every year, so we tagged alone this year.

DAY 2
So on Monday, we had a breakfast to go to, so we got up and went to it. Unfortunately, there wasn't any food left by the time we got there. So after that, we decided to head to the pool. The cool thing was that we at a resort so they have a big pool and waterslides but right next to it was the beach. So we stayed there until my grandpa got out of his convention and then ate lunch at a local restaurant. After that, we relaxed for the rest of the day and had an excellent spaghetti dinner.
